Some objects earn their place in a room without asking for attention. This vase is one of them.
The Cut High Vase by Studio Nudo is a handmade ceramic piece born from a quiet dialogue between a wheel-thrower and a Raku firing specialist — two Italian artisans whose hands shape every detail. The form is tall and precise, with clean cuts made directly on the wheel while the clay is still moving. No molds, no shortcuts. Dimensions: Ø 22 × H 36 cm.
Available in two finishes:
Smoked Black — After the initial firing, the piece goes through a second high-temperature firing. It is then placed in a sealed container with paper, sawdust, and leaves, deprived of oxygen. The result is a deep, velvety black surface — raw, unglazed, shaped entirely by fire and smoke. No two pieces come out the same.
Light Sand — A warm, textured surface defined by the interplay of glaze and smoke during Raku firing. Softer in tone, with the same quiet confidence.
Both pieces are rooted in the Raku tradition, a technique born in 16th-century Japan for the tea ceremony, where the beauty of an object lives in its imperfections — in the crackle of the glaze, the trace of the flame, the slight asymmetry of the hand. This is wabi-sabi: the appreciation of things that are simple, imperfect, and marked by time.
Studio Nudo was founded on the belief that everyday objects should carry meaning. Each piece begins with raw material and ends as something unrepeatable — a collaboration between nature, craft, and the people who bring them together. "Only the objects we love last forever."
