The smallest in Studio Nudo's Cut collection, this compact vase distills the essence of Italian Raku ceramics into a form designed for intimate spaces. At 24 cm tall and 26 cm wide, its low, rounded profile invites placement on a shelf, a side table, or as part of a curated grouping — a quiet anchor in any room.
Every Cut Small Vase begins on a potter's wheel in Italy, where one artisan shapes the clay and scores deliberate incisions into the wet surface as it turns. A second specialist then guides the piece through the volatile Raku firing process, where extreme heat and rapid cooling conspire to produce surfaces that no glaze or technique alone could replicate. The result is always one of a kind.
Available in two finishes:
Smoked Black — Following its second firing, the vase enters a sealed reduction chamber packed with organic matter. Deprived of oxygen, the exposed clay draws carbon deep into its surface, emerging with a dense, matte black finish that shifts in tone and texture from piece to piece.
Light Sand — A pale, luminous surface created by the unpredictable meeting of glaze and smoke inside the kiln. Each piece carries subtle variations in warmth and grain — no two are exactly the same.
Raku is a centuries-old Japanese firing tradition rooted in wabi-sabi, the philosophy that finds beauty in imperfection and transience. Studio Nudo embraces this ethos fully: every crack in the glaze, every trace of flame, and every slight irregularity is left intact as proof of a process shaped by nature as much as by human hands.
Each vase is unique. Pricing and availability may vary by finish — contact us for details.
